Cheap entrance to big music events

Recently Bucharest has been put on the map by big names for their world tours. Depeche Mode, Madonna, Santana, The Killers, Seal… and here to name only a few. You will find that afterall, among the european capitals, Bucharest has probably the cheapest entrance price for the big concerts. You may schedule a trip to Romania in the beginning of July for the grand B’estFest music event – big big names of international electro, pop and rock music. 70 euros for 3 days. And that to name only the biggest. Concerts in clubs take place all the time. Just take a look on the two city guides. We don’t actually sleep at night!

Cool Cat

Still in the center and in the mood to chill out on loud but hey good music?
Definetly go to Cool Cat, on Gabroveni Street. The place is simple yet unique in Bucharest.

Fire Club

One of the best rock and metal club in Bucharest, it is also a student club with cheap beer and good music for a crowd that knows how to party. Conveniantly located in the old center, make it a one night stop.

Drink with the fishes

In the center of the student-ville Regie, this bar has tradition among students. Piranha Bar. Cheap drinks in a good atmosphere, I think all students have memories about this place. Inside they have the piranhas, but they are isolated probably because drunk customers would stick their fingers in the water, getting it all dirty… Nice place in the summer, for a good cold beer with national fried meatballs called mici. (Pronounciation: like the name Mitch).
Location: Regie Campus, equal distance between Metro Stations Grozavesti and Semanatoarea

Regie Campus

Take a peak on the student life in Bucharest. You have in front of you the biggest campus in this part of Europe, Campus Regie. Usually serving the Politehnica University, here is a small city of student dormitories. Clubs, restaurants, bars… all at very affordable prices and all packed with students on weekends. Start your journey at Metro Grozavesti and walk along the river to get to where the action is. Lots of places to party, pick one, if you don’t like it, another one should be at a few meters away.

Local agenda

In every central bar or cinema you can expect to find a free brochure with the weekly events that take place in Bucharest. You can find at least two: 24fun or Sapte Seri. They are pretty thick so you have plenty events to choose every week. They are in romanian so you should probably figure out that Cinema, Restaurant or Bar mean the same… For other translations take a look around for somebody nice enough to give you directions.

Club A

Right in the heart of Bucharest, this student club has been a long time an underground meeting place for artistic events during the comunism regime. The guy that now runs the University of Architecture was one of the founders of this club – it was initially the club of architects.
Now it is a good place to party, with cheap beer (starting from 3 lei) and cocktails (from 5 lei), rock music from the 80s – 90s. Legend has it that if you’re a girl and single, it’s not likely to leave unattended at the end of the night.
Location: 14, Blanari. Right between the metro stations Piata Unirii and Universitate
